The Shires Press Series, a collaboration between Northshire Bookstores/Shire Press and Southern Vermont College, won second place at the New England Publishing Collaboration Awards (NEPCo) hosted in Somerville, MA on November 7th.

The Shires Press Series creates publishing opportunities for undergraduate level students. Faculty from the college work alongside Shire Press staff through a four-course program that gives students hands-on experience with book publishing. Last month, Debbi Wraga (of Northshire Bookstore/Shires Press) and SVC Humanities Division Chair Daisy Levy submitted the program for consideration for the 2018 Awards.

These awards are sponsored by Bookbuilders of Boston – an organization of publishers in New England. The Awards are to celebrate innovative partnerships in the publishing field. Among other groups participating were larger publishing companies like Hachette Publishing, Wiley and Sons, MIT Press and the Peabody Essex Museum of Salem, MA.
