“A Poem”

A Poem

A poem where I call myself out. A poem where I am the problem and it is a hard pill to swallow. A poem where I stop wondering how to make someone stay and let them leave. A poem where I stop breaking my own heart. A poem where I am not the hero but still call myself one. A poem where I have a heart full of things to bleed. A poem where I stop deleting every word I really mean because I am afraid of what people will think of me. A poem where I don’t feel like a poet. A poem that isn’t a poem, but actually a journal entry. A “good” poem. An okay poem. The shittiest poem I have ever written. A poem I would show my mom. A poem I wouldn’t show my mom. A poem that would make my mom proud of me. A poem that would make me proud of me. A poem where others can relate. A poem where someone relates so tragically that they get it tattooed onto their body to piss off their dad. A poem written in vodka and cliches and run on sentences under the comfort of 3 a.m. A poem written at 1 pm in the parking lot of a Taco Bell. A poem that feeds the heart. A poem that leaves it empty. A poem that asks: What do you want this poem to be?

Everything. I want it to be everything.
