On October 23rd, 2015 at 8:30pm in the Everett Theatre senior students reenacted a show called Wild N’ Out. Wild N’ Out is a MTV show hosted by Nick Cannon. In this show he competes against A-list celebrities. There are two teams in each show; one is the platinum squad the other one is the black squad. It consists of a breakdown of different battles that all come down to the final comedy freestyle battle which then determines who wins the fame versus who goes home in shame.
The event had an entrance fee of three dollars and the host here at SVC was Professor William Hansen. There was a pink team with seven players and a black team with four. On the pink team there was Jamal Gaynor, Greg Davis, Garith Christopher, Daniel Rosario, Kimberly Maynard, Emily Freling, and Zanobia Leigh. On the black team there was Marvel Figaro, Ervin Cook, Davante Jordan, and Jerell McFarland. The first round was “determine that celebrity” where two people on a team had to work together. One person got to see who the celebrity was and from there had to sing a verse from one of their songs, break out one of their dance moves, or give a description so that the other team member could guess it correctly to win a point.
In the second round, each team had to act out scenarios that were given to them. After acting out the scenarios the audience had to vote on whether there scenarios were good or not and the way that was determined was if they had their thumbs up or down. The third round was called “Dictionary” where Professor William Hansen gave each team a word that they had to put into a sentence. The words that were given were juxtaposition, intercourse, pet shop, donut, cat, directions, discipline, and pork tenderloin. Bringing us to the fourth round called “Let me holla” where two girls who are students here at SVC named Kemberly Vasquez and Samaria Lowers went on stage and got told pickup lines by the teams. If the pickup line made the audience laugh then the team won a point.
The rounds continued and in round five both teams had to rap out a topic that was given to them. The black team’s topic was financial aid and the pink team’s topic was campus safety. Then both teams had to remix a song the songs were “Marry Had a Little Lamb” and “London Bridge”. In the sixth round the topic was “how fly is he” and Jamal Gaynor was one of the two guys who were being put on the spotlight for “how fly is he”. Garith Christopher stood aside Jamal and told the audience “Jamal is so fly he got wings on his shoes” – which was true.
In the seventh round the focus was on “talk and spit” where Marvel Figaro and Emily Freling sat in front of each other with water puffed up in their mouth. The goal in this round was to get one of them to spit there water out. A player from each team would go and tease the opposite opponent into spitting out their water. Neither of them spit out there water so neither team got any points for that round.
Lastly, the final contest was called “Wild Style” where each team came together and rapped against the other team on the spot without any advanced practice. In the end of the wild style the winner came out to be the pink team!
