Rebecca feels as though she has found her forever home here in Vermont with her studies, her job, her new friendships, and her goals to her future business around here.
Rebecca “Becky” Mahoney is a first-year student at Southern Vermont College and was born and raised in a small town known as Exeter, New Hampshire. Becky has decided to major in Business and Entrepreneurship.
You all may wonder why Entrepreneurship? I surely do. Rebecca chose that major in particular because she is interested in opening her own business in music marketing and would like to promote other local businesses around her. As you can see, she is not only inspired to help herself, but others as well.
In conversing with Rebecca she explained to me that she is determined to achieve the most out of being here at Southern Vermont College. She mentions her desire to get on the Provost’s and President’s List as well. After reaching those goals she would like to dive into politics and helping the environment. She said that she would like to create more sustainability in the United States in reference to the environmental impact.
Knowing her interests and career path, one might ask what led Rebecca to go to Southern Vermont College? Rebecca said she was brought to SVC because she was drawn in by the mountains that reminded her so much of home and the haunted stories that have been told about the Everett Mansion. As a freshman she feels as though her transition has gone smoothly and that she has made some lifelong friends already.
Rebecca also maintains a part time job this year in Arlington, Vermont. She works in The Sugar Shack where she bakes pies, doughnuts, and cookies. She got the job through the help of a friend she met here. She says that where she works has made her experience here all the more greater.
Thus, Rebecca has found a home here in Vermont as the place where she plans to pursue her dreams with the help of being a student here at Southern Vermont College.
