SVC alumn Matt Flatow displays his work at the mansion. Check it out before it’s gone!
Max Flatow, class of 2006, has been traveling around the world to places as far away as India and as near as the American West. He used the images he captured from his travels in his collection: “Terra Obscura: Images from the Road”.
In this collection Flatow works a lot with lighting. Though he usually plays around with artificial light, Flatow used only natural light for this project, manipulating it to create an interesting image. Most of his pictures are heavily saturated with vibrant and bold colors. His composition plays very heavily with leading lines, lighting, and focusing his subjects to the right. The photographs are colorful but simple and minimal. There isn’t a lot going on in the photographs, or really any movement, but he captures his subjects from interesting and well thought out angles.
Flatow typically has worked in fast paced environments but slowed down his routine for this collection. He is has worked as a photographer of a wide range of subjects such as weddings, food, portraits, and events.
“Terra Obscura” is on display in SVC’s Burgdorff Gallery until December 18, Monday through Friday. from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Go check it out when you get a chance before winter break!
