Macho Man
by Takiyah Douglas
I’m a guy, a dude, and a bro.
And I’m supposed to be the asshole every girl knows.
My abs are supposed to be hard, my biceps huge,
And they say girls’ thighs are my only refuge.
Oh and don’t forget, I always tell a lie,
And I’m a pussy if I ever dare to cry.
To me, all women are thought of as hoes,
And I’m a failure if I stay at five inches and can’t grow.
Can’t forget that I must be exactly six feet tall!
I also must be able to handle myself in a brawl.
It’s not a surprise either if I can’t follow a single rule,
And automatically I’m a player if I’m dubbed Mr. Cool.
Everyone thinks my head is just filled with air,
And when it comes to feelings, I just don’t have a care.
But I do, and I’m a human too.
I don’t think of every girl as a simple screw,
I am capable of getting hurt,
No, I don’t always take off my damn shirt
And I certainly am competent enough to think for myself
And encourage love in oneself
Because there’s nothing wrong with that.
And I’m just so tired of living in a world where everyone’s perceptions are so fucking flat.
