HS-340 Hurricane Harvey Relief

HS-340+Hurricane+Harvey+Relief

Hurricane Harvey hit Houston, Texas and Louisiana on the 25th of August. As a category 4 hurricane, it left thousands of people without homes, clothes, food and many more important basic needs. We also can’t forget about the animals- many pets were left behind but thankfully later rescued by good samaritans. A huge thank you is owed to all the organizations and celebrities who have been helping to get the resources that are needed to those still suffering after Hurricane Harvey.

Dr. Judith Herzberg’s HS-340 class was assigned the task to send 32 t-shirts to a location in Houston that was in need of help. After splitting the class in half, Judith gave each team the t-shirts themselves and the task of sending them out by the following Thursday. The two teams were asked to decorate their t-shirts, fund the shipping of them and have them sent out in time. Some students chose to tie-dye their shirts, while others decided to style their shirts with drawings and messages. Some students even decided to send soaps, crayons, and rulers as their shirts were being sent to organizers in the department of education in Houston.

Congratulations to HS-340 for helping survivors of Harvey as well as Judith Herzberg for organizing such a self-less assignment for a great cause.

Also in the works is a contribution by Daisy Levy in attempt to help with Harvey relief. More details are to follow.

I have personally set up a box in the Mansion (near the bathroom closest to the Gallery) and Hunter Hall (near the Cave), where SVC community members can donate supplies that will be sent to a location in Houston for those affected by Harvey. Thank you to everyone who has already contributed! Remember, any act of kindness and any donation can feel like a million dollars to those affected by Harvey when they have little to nothing.
