SVC is happy to announce that our school has been given over $2M in gifts over the summer. With the extra funds, the school looks forward to renting the Gate House located at the entrance of campus from SVC Alumnus Ira Wagner and his wife, Marcia.
The couple purchased the house and plan to renovation it over the next year. The school has not decided exactly how they plan to use the Gate House, but are considering a welcome center.
Along with leasing the Gate House, the Wagners have donated an additional gift of $250,000. The Wagners have been long time donors stating they “deeply believe in the mission of SVC serving primarily first generation students.”
Other noted donors are Deborah Wiley, SVC Board of Trustees, who gave $175,000. The Milton & Dorothy Sarnoff Raymond and Alice Shaver foundations gave $80,000 and first time donor John Baackes, an SVC Trustee, gave $35,000.
Besides renting the Gate House, the school is hoping to use the funds to introduce new student programs, support scholarships and staff resources.
“We are adding additional programs, providing support for our existing and new highly experienced faculty and staff, changing and expanding our physical footprint, and launching highly competitive athletic teams,” said President Karen Gross.
The school has already announced the introduction of a four-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree. The funds will also be used to support our recent involvement in the College Steps Program and launching of the Veterans Scholarship program.
