Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy, better known as XXXtentacion, is a rapper/singer born and raised in Plantation, Florida. X spent most of his childhood in Lauderhill, Florida and he started writing music following his release from a youth correction center in 2014. He began by releasing music on the free platform Soundcloud. His debut album, “17”, was released on August 25, 2017. It was followed by “?”, which was released March 16th, 2018. The album consisted of hit songs such as “Moonlight” and “SAD”. X wanted to go about this project differently; in his intro to the album, he said he wanted to treat it as a piece of art to which he devoted most of his time. He incorporated different genres together such as Hip Hop, R&B, and Rock, creating music for everybody. Upon listening to the album, the first thing I noticed was that the album is something that should be played through without interruption.

X wanted both to show off his musical versatility and for everyone to feel his energy. In the intro, he says, “Open your mind before you listen to this album”. The music flows so nicely from the intro speech to the last track “Before I Close My Eyes”, but like X said, “If you are not open minded, then this album may not be for you”. If you’re someone who likes to listen to music when in times of need, then this is one of those albums. XXXtentacions “?” album gets a 9 out of 10 on the album review scale.
