Fashion Talk 2: What brands are you rockin?

What brand are you rocking?

The clothing brands I’m bringing to your attention have been around for quite some time, and now are at their peaks. What do you like to wear to show off your fun-side? It makes people have a sense of social self, creating a way that you connect to others. For instance, Sneakercon.

Do I think the brands are moving in the right direction?

Brands overall are moving in a good direction whether it’s of your interest or not. Kanye West sneakers for example – it’s just amazing how he slaps a crazy price on these funny looking shoes and people still buy them. Our generation now is very materialistic when it comes to clothing brands or designer wear. What I mean by that is, people will spend their whole check on some shoes before they pay their bills (and I’ve witnessed this first hand). But fashion has always been a weird way to express feelings, gratitude, and more. For my own clothing, I try to incorporate the new season looks that drops for fall, winter, spring and summer. You’re going to have instances of not liking a collection of clothing and maybe even a season. That’s why we have unlimited brands to choose from to create our identity to the world.

Overall, I think the brands are heading in a good direction. I say this because of what NIKE did with the whole “JUST DO IT” campaign with Colin Kaepernick  (featuring LeBron James & other famous athletes). Whether you like it or not, the brand is still making a profit off those that don’t support it because of an African American face that was already in the shadows from football season. American made again that African Americans are on the rise. People that don’t like what’s going on burn or rip the products they bought, so what do you see? Money not being well spent. Creating a revenue income for Nike, not necessarily going off demographics of the past years but for the new and upcoming generation.
