SAMCRO

I’ve never been more excited to talk about a show; Sons of Anarchy. This show changed the way I watch TV. I’m sure many of you have heard of the it or have maybe even seen glimpses of it; but this is a show you MUST watch.

The show ran for seven seasons and is currently on Netflix but each season brought new life to the series. The show is focused around a motorcycle club located in the fictional town of Charming, California. Our protagonist, Jackson Teller, or Jax as he’s commonly referred as, is the son of one of the four founders of this bike club. His father was murdered and his mother married the best friend of his father, Clay, whom is also a founder. Originally just a bike enthusiast club, SAMCRO, inherits the same qualities as a biker gang. From gun running to drug smuggling and even shootouts, the club finds themselves running into trouble at every turn and Jax soon indulges himself in this lifestyle that he fought so hard to keep his away from. Imagine a modern-day Hamlet (or the Lion King) turned into a drama series with some of the most talented actors and actresses FX has ever put on screen. Some of the actors include Charlie Hunnam, Maggie Siff, Ron Perlman and Katey Sagal just to name a few.

When I watched this show for the first time, it was about 4 years after the show had finished running. One of the great things about this show is the fact that it follows its own timeline. It’s not a show that is just coming up with different plot twists and trying to find ways to keep the viewers engaged. Most drama series have a habit of doing whatever it takes to maintain high ratings. They typically do this by killing off some of the less important characters or by having unexpected plot twists that strike emotion out of viewers. SOA does the exact opposite. All of the characters maintain true to who they are within the show and no one (and I truly mean no one) is safe. There are brief times throughout the show where the story is kind of dragged out and episodes can be a bit longer than normal. However, the show in itself is a beautiful production of a tragic story. I recommend this show to anyone that may not have a sensitivity to gang violence.
