SVC Midnight Madness Recap
Midnight Madness is an event at SVC that showcases the athletes for the upcoming basketball season. This year, the event took place on October 14, beginning at 11:30pm. It started off with a scrimmage between students and faculty/coaches, and was followed by a 3-point shooting contest between men’s basketball player, Rohan Piple, and women’s basketball player, Kyra Bruesewitz. Then they kicked off the basketball team scrimmages by having a short scrimmage with the women’s team, and another with the men’s team. It was a fun night with a great turn out. By the looks of it, it’s going to be a great season for our winter athletes.
During the event they even had a free-throw contest to get the fans up and involved with the event! If you made a free-throw, you got a free sub to enjoy while you watched the basketball game. The crowd went crazy all night whenever someone made a good move; I hope that was a preview of how the crowd will be during the season. During the student/faculty/coaches scrimmage, former basketball athlete, Deshawn Hamlet, dunked on someone which caused a roar through the gym. People love to see the athletes showing off their impressive moves.
This year, both of our basketball teams are expected to have a successful season, so show some support and come to the games! Nothing is better than having the stands full, cheering on your SVC mountaineers. The louder, the better; don’t miss out on the fun!
