Beauty Booth – Winter Skin Edition

There are so many beauty products in the world and it’s hard to find the best ones due to pricing or shady advertisement. No one wants to waste their money on beauty brands that don’t work, so here’s a list of products that have worked for me and hopefully, for you!

Dry Skin:

Shea Butter

Shea butter is the most natural product on this list. It’s very moisturizing and as you can see from this list, it is included in a lot of products. Raw unrefined shea butter is also VERY thick, so it is recommended for people with extremely dry skin. Otherwise, it might be too greasy for other people. Shea butter also goes a long way! For $5.39 on Amazon, you can get an 8 oz. container that will last for at least a month.

Bath and Body Works Ultra Shea Body Cream

If you’re feeling fancy, but your wallet isn’t, Bath and Body Works creams could work for you. The best part about this brand is the numerous scents they carry. Literally, you could smell different every day of the month. On the downside, creams can regularly cost $13.50, BUT Bath and Body Works is always having sales. I know this only because I’m always participating in them. Especially their semi annual sales where 8 oz. tubes of creams can go for $3.00. Definitely stock up during that time.

What I’m Currently Using: Renpure Shea Butter and Vanilla Body Lotion

When I unexpectedly run out of something and don’t have time to wait for an online order to come through, I’ll run to the store. I bought this lotion from Walmart for about $5 or $6. It smells great for one and two, the bottle is a decent size. I also feel like the lotion itself isn’t thick, but very moisturizing. With continued use, I have seen that it has made my skin noticeably softer.

Hair Detangler:

SheaMoisture Raw Shea Butter  Extra-Moisture Detangler

This stuff is good, but it’s too expensive for me. If you have really thick, coarse, or kinky hair, this is a lifesaver. It coats the strands and makes detangling a breeze, leaving your hair feeling soft and rich with moisture. You can get it on Amazon for $10.81, but I rarely buy it because I feel like I use it up too fast.

Pure Clean Detangler + Air Dry

I’ve tried this once, but it wasn’t for me 100%. On the positive, it dried my hair faster and made my curls more defined. On the negative, I felt it didn’t detangle very well, didn’t moisturize well enough, and left my hair feeling a little limp after a while. I think this product would work best with fine hair since it seems to be more of a lightweight detangler.  It’s also silicone and paraben free! Pick it up on Amazon for $4.94.

What I’m Currently Using: Garnier Hair Care Whole Blends Detangler Spray with Green Apple & Green Tea

This is my holy grail. It passes the test of the three categories I want in my products: smell, effectiveness, and price. When I use this, my hair smells like a whole tropical island. I can almost believe that I’m vacationing in Bali. (Almost.) It does a very good job in detangling and prepping my hair for styling. I use this product daily and I feel without it, my hair would be a nightmare to brush. Also, it does the job so well, that I don’t have to use much of it. So even if the bottle does seem a little small, for the price of $5.22 on Amazon and how long it lasts, issa deal.

Miscellaneous:

Vida Hair Tonic

The Vida Hair brand first started in the creator’s home before being sold on Instagram and two salons in NYC. The brand gained so much popularity and recently acquired its own site much to my relief because I was tired of having to go through PayPal for payment. Anyway, this brand uses all natural ingredients and because of that, it can get expensive. I do swear by the hair tonic though! It really helped my hair AND scalp. The hair tonic fostered healthy roots and stopped my hair from significantly shedding. I believe if you’re trying to get healthy hair, this would be a great product start out with. It goes for $25 plus shipping on Vida Hair Growth, but it’s worth the investment.

Garnier SkinActive Moisture Rescue Refreshing Gel-Cream

My face is addicted to this! First off, I have to say the skin on your body and face are two different beings. They both need specific needs to care for them and if you use products on your face ment for your body, you can actually damage that skin. If you have skin that is really dry, but gets shiny when you put on products, I would give this a try. It’s a gel, so the texture is light and goes on your skin smoothly, but the moisture seeps into the skin. And stays! When I put this on, I’m set for the next 24 hours. I don’t feel dry, itchy, and I don’t get that annoying sheen that can appear on your forehead. Not to mention my face feels uber soft after continued use. You only need a little though, so for $6.62 at Walmart, I don’t feel like I’m getting ripped off.

Products I Want To Try:

Anese Collection

Anese is a beauty brand I’ve recently seen along my timeline and what immediately caught my eye was the naming of their products. “So over it”, “Can I speak to your manager”, and “Those boobies tho” are some of the hilarious titles I’ve seen. Besides that, the packaging just LOOKED good. Of course products that work are the most important, but sometimes appearances do matter. Anyway, after searching around their website, I’ve found a bunch of stuff I can’t wait to try. Here are my top three:

Those Boobies Tho:

This is a scrub for your breasts that leaves them smooth, reduces acne or blemishes, and helps slow down signs of aging.

Smells like Queen spirit:

At first, this looks like a perfume, but it’s actually a skin and hair elixir, which means not only does it smell good, but it hydrates your skin.

Swipe right:

Swipe right is a highlighting moisturizer. It can be used for both your face and body because of how lightweight it is. It’s said to nourish and illuminate your skin.
