All eyes are on the Middle Eastern country of Iran. Recent conversations between the Iranian government and United States of America (U.S.) over Iran’s nuclear program have left many worried and questioning the situation. To further the tension, Saudi Arabia has recently launched attacks on Iranian funded rebels in Yemen causing Iran to condemn the attacks and cause tension to rise in the Middle East.
In the past month, reports came out that Iran has been breaking its agreements related to their nuclear program. President Barack Obama however, has dismissed these reports as a mistake by an employee. These reports have caused a lot of controversy and many are calling for actions to be taken against Iran. A letter signed by 347 U.S. house members was sent to Iran stating that any regulations and deals made with the current administration could be rolled back under a new administration. The talks between the Obama administration and Iranian administration have brought a lot of attention to Iran. They have caused a divide between republicans and democrats on the action to be taken when making deals with Iran.
To make tensions worse, Saudi Arabia has begun attacks on Yemen to destroy Shiite rebels. This has caused Iran to come out and call these actions a “dangerous step” that will cause nothing more than “expansion of terrorism and extremism throughout the whole region.” This has not stopped the Saudi Arabian government from executing attacks on Yemen but it has prompted stronger security around the country. As Tensions mount in the Middle East all eyes are on Iran to see their next move as they play a critical role in the politics of the Middle East.
