Wow. Nobody, and I mean nobody saw that coming. As compelling as anyone could imagine this World Series could be, nobody would have guessed 14 innings.
As disappointed as I was because the Mets lost that was the most exciting game I’ve watched in awhile. High Drama, High Intensity, and even an Inside The Park Home Run on the first pitch! Every pitch was must watch TV, and the series will only get better. Be excited folks.

Eric Hosmer brings home Alcides Escobar in the 14th as Royals take 1-0 lead.
Takeaways:
- The Mets had their chance!
With two outs in the 7th inning, Royals 1st baseman Eric Hosmer made a crucial error and it let the Mets take a 4-3 lead that they would take into the ninth. With arguably the best closer in baseball this year, the Mets felt confident Game 1 was in the bag. But a one-out Solo Home Run by Alex Gordon would turn this game from an interesting Game 1, into one of the greatest World Series Games to ever be played.
- Pitching
These two teams have some great pitching, and baseball experts knew if the game went into extra innings that the advantage at Home would go to the Royals. And it has to. That bullpen was phenomenal. Finishing the job left by Edinson Volquez, who unfortunately and tragically lost his father before the start of the game, the Royals bullpen was as sharp as they’ve been the last two postseasons. Even Game 4 starter Chris Young made an impact, pitching 3 innings and picked up the win. The Mets stayed in it as long as they possibly could. Matt Harvey threw pretty well considering he wasn’t on top of his game and the Mets bullpen was fantastic besides the Home Run given up be Familia in the ninth. The efforts carried Mets bullpen was carried by Jonathon Niese and 42 year old Bartolo Colon were phenomenal. Both teams showed just how much depth they have.
