Love and Money Advice

Ever had that burning question you wanted answered without fear of judgement?

LOVE:

What is love, do only fools fall in love; and how does one know it’s love and not just lust?

“Love is the poetry of the senses.” —The Physiology of Marriage, Honoré de Balzac

Love is a magical thing, it’s that feeling you get when everything is going wrong; but that special someone stops by with a bag of chipotle, or even with burger king, or just sees how your day is going. It’s not what they bring, but the fact that they came to you without you asking. It’s that feeling that makes you go the extra distance.

It’s not something you can control it’s a feeling that floods your heart that makes its way to your mind and takes over. It begins to guide your whole way of thinking. Soon the only thing you can do is love. It becomes a stronger bond than the blood that binds families together. It is an emotion that becomes a way of life. A combination of passion, commitment, and chemistry. Love doesn’t come with conditions and stipulations. Love comes with trust, kindness, compassion, and support. It is a combination of different feelings and states that evoke emotions unexplainable.

How we react to love is dependent on our own fears and desires. But before you say you’re in love it’s important to know if what you feel is a strong lustful desire or if you have truly fallen for that special one.

Ask yourself some of these questions:

  • What do I want from them?
  • What is it about them that attracts me or draws my attention?
  • What do I see in them?
  • Why do I think I love them?
  • What do I know about them?
  • What do we have in common? What don’t we have in common?
  • Do we bring out the best in each other?
  • What kind of relationship do you have? Materialistic, romantic, casual, etcetera?
  • How do you feel when you’re with them?

It’s important to get to know them on a deeper level. If any of your answers are materialistic and are not enlightening or romantic chances are you’re in love with what they have instead of who they are.

MONEY

Is it cost affective to live off campus?

Yes and No:

If you think of college tuition and the cost of room and board. It all depends how much you pay out of pocket. If you have a scholarship that pays for your room and board and you can afford about $1,000 a month for off campus expenses then definitely look into it, but chances are if you have a scholarship YOU can’t afford it. So that’s a no. However if you pay out of pocket for room and board and you found a decent apartment for a good price then YES it would be cost effective to live off campus.

Cost breakdown:

College:

Room and board cost: $5,350 a year (dependent on college)

Tuition: about $11,492.50 a year (dependent on college)

Total: $16,842.50

Off-campus:

Rent: $600- $800 per month (dependent on roommate status)

Food: $200 per month (dependent on roommate status)

Tuition: about $11,492.50 a year (dependent on college)

Total: about $22,492.50 a year

In most cases, people like to believe they save money by moving off campus but in reality you spend more. However this all depends on how much research you do, where you plan to get your groceries, and how much your apartment will cost. A good way to split the cost is to get a good roommate or to cut the cost in halves or thirds. In the end it all depends on the cost to determine if it is worth it or not to move off
