Student Athlete Profile

Marc Brandmeyer (Criminal Justice, Class of 2018) was born in Newark, New Jersey and raised here in Bennington, Vermont. He attended Mount Anthony Union High School where he participated in sports like football and soccer, started running, and joined the cross country team. During his senior year, he served as the cross country team captain. After graduating from MAU, Brandmeyer took a year off of school to enlist in the Army Reserves, and after that year was up, he decided to come run for the cross country team at Southern Vermont College, where he also runs track.

Throughout his running career, Brandmeyer received many honors. In high school, he received an award for the Hall of Fame at MAU, the Bob Mattison award, an Athlete of the Year award, the Vermont Elites award, and several All New England awards. Coming to SVC, Brandmeyer has helped his team win their regional conference two years in a row, while receiving honor laurels such as Runner and Rookie of the Week and awards for both Runner and Rookie of the Year.

When asked how Brandmeyer thought this year would turn out, his response to that was, “This year has been cruel to me. I started by spraining my ankle and I’m now recovering from a sickness that knocked me off my game. I still have a couple races though to make a bounce back and hopefully break into Nationals.”
