“Up in the sky? Up in the sky.” As the final project for my Life in the Universe class, we were asked to synthesize a creative project in the medium of our choosing. Here’s what I came up with. It all started in class when my professor would drop vocab word like “retrograde motion”  and “space parallax” only to know that I had heard those terms before, but not exactly why? Then it hit me like a pillowcase filled with bars of soap, the legendary emcee Wyclef Jean had a few bars on the The Fugees classic, “Zealots” about exactly those things. Eventually I dug through the 12, 000 songs on my ancient iPod Classic to find as many space-related lines, verses, songs, or any other mentions I could. Took those tracks, scratched a few off of vinyl, and then laid the track down. The visuals are all from movies or television shows growing up that I remember seeing, kind of pissed I left out Space Power Rangers but whatever.
