The Meg is a science fiction action thriller about the Megalodon shark that is supposed to be extinct, but is rediscovered by a team of scientists. The Megalodon is a prehistoric shark that can grow up to 100 feet long And has no known predators. This shark’s jaws were so mighty that it could bite a whale in half with one clean motion. In this movie, there’s a submarine that gets trapped on the sea floors of the Pacific Ocean. The submarine is attacked by the Megalodon while exploring a part of the ocean no one had ever explored before.

Jason Statham, who plays Jonas Taylor in the movie, is the diver who encounters the Megalodon throughout the film. On the first encounter, he has to make an executive choice that leaves people to die in order to save the rest. After doing this, he is dismissed from duties and blamed for the losses. After many years, Taylor is summoned from his vacation life to take action on another rescue mission. Mana One is an underwater research facility that has a main goal to discover parts of the ocean no other scientist has explored or documented.

There is a mission in place to explore what may be a deeper section of the Marianas Trench, concealed by a thermocline cloud of hydrogen sulfide. This mission sends three scientists to explore the trench when they encounter a large animal which knocks them to the sea floor, losing all contact with Mana One. Mana One later realizes it’s the Megalodon. Taylor went to rescue the submarine trapped on the sea floor; while doing so, the Megalodon attacks again, exploding the submarine. Soon after the rescue crew and Taylor make it back to Mana One, they realize there is a hole in the thermocline, created by the thermal vent explosion, briefly raising the temperature enough for the Megalodon to safely pass through to regular sea levels. Endangering the whole world, the Megalodon was free to explore waters and prey on anything in the ocean. This movie was great! I definitely recommend it. My rating for this movie would be a 10. It was suspenseful, intriguing and had me on the edge of my seat for the majority of the time. This is a must see movie;you don’t want to miss it!
